Dance-off T's & C's

Here are your brief, simple, friendly Terms and Conditions for the Dance-Off at We Prefer to Swing, Saturday 12 April 2025 at the Brunswick Ballroom.

Have fun

The prizes are real, but let's not take ourselves too seriously! Let's have some fun, and let the judges decide who won using the criteria below.

The song

"Bliss" begins with a slow guitar and voice ballad, for a bit of close dancing, before launching into a short, super-catchy song that swings along at a brisk 186 bpm, no stop time, for just over 2 minutes with a very sudden finish.  It's begging to be choreographed!

Steps to enter

  • subscribe to markmorand.com to receive news about the competition, and all of our events

  • watch “Bliss” on the 32 Bars Youtube channel, on or after Monday 10 March when the video is released

  • choose a dancing partner

  • invent an inspiring set of moves that others could copy

  • get your tix to We Prefer to Swing

  • showcase your dance sequence with other competitors at the show, when we announce the competition and play "Bliss"

The winning dance moves

The judges will be looking for a set of dance moves that is great to watch and, most importantly, can easily be copied by others in future.  In other words, keep it easy enough for other people to be able replicate your dance moves.  We want to create a sequence that people will dance to every time we play this song!  Note: you must begin dancing during the slow introduction, and continue for the rest of the song, but of course there can be repeated moves during the song.

The judges

Our judges are DJ Rusty, Jennifer Salisbury and Karly from the Brunswick Ballroom.

Consent to be filmed and published

Our cameras will be rolling!  By participating in the competition you give consent to be filmed by multiple cameras and for the footage to be used by Mark Morand Productions and 32 Bars for future promotional purposes.

Winners & Prizes

The First Place winning couple will receive a total of $200 in cash to be shared between them, and be invited to be spotlighted dancers to feature in a future 32 Bars video.  Each dancer will also receive a 32 Bars Merch Pack.

Second and third place winners will receive a consolation prize courtesy of the Brunswick Ballroom, and a Merch Pack.

Every competitor will receive a Merch Pack.

Decisions are quick and final

The judges will choose and celebrate the winners during the show, and their decisions will be final.

Take Care

Dancers enter the competition voluntarily and at their own risk.
